The reconstruction of the "Coliseum" in Yekaterinburg has been suspended.
In Yekaterinburg the reconstruction of the "Coliseum" has been suspended. The head of the mayor’s culture department, Ilya Markov, said that work was planned to start this year, but Moscow did not provide the funds. Thus, the application for federal co‑financing has been postponed until next year.
The city cannot pay for the reconstruction on its own — about 800 million rubles are required, reports the portal 66.Ru. Workers will need to restore the building’s historic appearance and refit its interior. Incidentally, the "Provincial Dances" theater, based in the "Coliseum", will remain on the premises until next May.
As a reminder, in early June we reported that the documents for the reconstruction of the "Coliseum" cinema did not pass the state examination.
