Former Deputy Governor Oleg Chemezov has been detained in connection with a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud), his lawyer Maria Kirillova told Interfax.
“Yes. No charges have been brought yet. The detention is in connection with a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud — Interfax),” she said.
According to her, a preventive measure for her client may be chosen on September 30.
In a conversation with 66.RU, Chemezov’s lawyer Maria Kirillova noted that “Smirnov (former Minister of Energy and Housing and Communal Services of the Sverdlovsk Region, Nikolai Smirnov) throws mud at everyone he’s asked to, just to remain free,” the Telegram channel “SVET Yekaterinburg” reports.
In July, the former minister Smirnov, accused of receiving a bribe in an especially large amount, was released from the pretrial detention center (SIZO).
