The official representative of the Sverdlovsk regional directorate of the Interior Ministry, Valery Gorelykh, confirmed to the Uralweb.ru portal the fact of the incident at the cemetery.
— Police officers from the criminal investigation unit and the precinct officers’ service are determining the damage caused, as well as the exact and detailed circumstances of the vandalism. The inquiry is checking for involvement people prone to inappropriate behavior, drug-dependent persons, previously convicted individuals, and troubled teenagers registered with the Interior Ministry.
The alarming report to the duty unit of the Department of Internal Affairs came on October 2 at 16:10 from a local resident.
— She said that a monument to her father at the Nikolsky Cemetery had been damaged. The crime was committed the day before. Three days ago everything there was in order. In total, the perpetrators knocked over about 10 headstones and crosses. Based on the results of the verification activities, the police will make a substantiated procedural decision. The solving of the crime has been taken under the control of the leadership, — Colonel Gorelykh noted.
