
The acting rector of UrFU, Ilya Obabkov, dismissed two vice-rectors and the head of a department.
Insider information from Telegram channels about major personnel reshuffles at the Ural Federal University (UrFU) named after B. N. Yeltsin has been confirmed.
As reported by Kommersant‑Ural, acting UrFU rector Ilya Obabkov said that Vice‑Rector for Student Affairs Dmitry Loevsky, Vice‑Rector for Information Policy Alexey Fayustov and Director for Educational Activities Sergey Knyazev have left their posts. Knyazev, according to Obabkov, will continue to work as a professor at the Institute of Radioelectronics and Information Technologies‑RTF (IRIT‑RTF).
Dmitry Loevsky will be appointed advisor to the head of UrFU, and Alexey Fayustov will take part in the elections for dean of the journalism faculty (the position is officially called “director of the department of the Faculty of Journalism of the Ural Humanities Institute”).
At the same time as the resignations, a number of personnel appointments were made. Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Economics and Quality Management of Products Oleg Obukhov was appointed Vice‑Rector for Educational Activities. Alexander Ivanov, who previously (2016–2018) headed the Department of Information Policy of the Sverdlovsk Region, was appointed Vice‑Rector for Youth Policy.
Ilya Obabkov appointed Valery Pilichev, director of the Sverdlovsk Regional Fund for Support of Entrepreneurship (SOFPP), to the position of advisor.
The following retained their posts, Kommersant‑Ural writes: First Vice‑Rectors Dmitry Bugrov, Sergey Kortov and Daniil Sandler (responsible for the economy and strategic development); Vice‑Rectors Alexander Germanenko (science), Sergey Tushin (international relations), Pavel Mezentsev (general affairs) and Natalya Andreichenko (development of master’s programs); and Director of the Department of Information Technologies Alexey Syskov.
