The head of the Yeltsin Center’s film club will be tried again on charges of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.
The Verkh-Isetsky District Court of Yekaterinburg will re-examine the materials in the case on discrediting the army by the head of the Yeltsin Center film club, Vyacheslav Shmyrov. This was reported to Interfax by Shmyrov’s lawyer, Georgy Krasnov.
"The case has been submitted to the court; the hearing will be held on October 23," Krasnov said.
Shmyrov’s defender also noted that his client was not notified about the drawing up of the protocol, which is why the lawyer will ask to have the case returned to the police again.
The protocol against Shmyrov was drawn up under Part 1 of Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (public actions aimed at discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation). But the court returned the protocol to the Interior Ministry without imposing any punishment on Shmyrov.
In August the Verkh-Isetsky District Court of Yekaterinburg fined the first deputy executive director of the Yeltsin Center, Lyudmila Telen, 45,000 rubles for discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
