New important rules for passengers are being introduced in the Yekaterinburg Metro.
Now, when going through inspections in the metro it is necessary to switch on phones, cameras, laptops and other electronic devices — this is a requirement of new legislation, writes the Telegram channel "Yekaterinburg. Main".
Security measures are being tightened in the Yekaterinburg metro: such equipment is often used by perpetrators to disguise explosive devices or prohibited substances.
To make the inspection faster, passengers are advised to take gadgets out of pockets and bags in advance and to ensure the battery is charged. At the same time, staff emphasize: no one checks the contents of the devices — they only need to make sure the equipment is in working order.
Thus, several years ago the deputy mayor of Yekaterinburg did not consider the inspection measures in the metro excessive.
In January 2024, Vladimir Fedorov, vice-president of the International Association of Urban Electric Transport Enterprises (MAP GET), considered the inspection of passengers' belongings through an introscope in the Yekaterinburg metro to be clearly excessive.
