A 14-year-old boy was killed in a traffic accident near Yekaterinburg — he was struck by a truck while riding on the road on a pit bike given to him by his grandmother and grandfather.
The tragedy occurred on October 7 in the settlement of Klyuchevsk, near Beryozovsky. According to the traffic police in the Sverdlovsk Region, the 50-year-old KAMAZ driver failed to yield to a Kayo pit bike approaching from the right, which led to the collision. The teenager was wearing a helmet, but the injuries he sustained were fatal — he died at the scene.
The schoolboy did not have a driver's license or experience operating motorized vehicles. The pit bike was kept in the garage and was freely accessible; the parents knew that their son rode it. A protocol was drawn up against the deceased's grandmother for handing over the vehicle to a person without a license.
According to the inspectorate, the KAMAZ driver has 26 years' driving experience and 20 prior administrative violations.
