A fatal accident occurred yesterday evening, October 10, in Yekaterinburg. During a prohibited overtaking maneuver the driver of a KIA died. The passengers who were in the car with him were hospitalized.
The crash occurred at about 19:05 in the area of the Kolos‑33 dacha cooperative on Sibirsky Trakt.
According to preliminary information, the driver of the KIA, traveling along Sibirsky Trakt from the direction of the settlement of Prokhladny, while attempting to overtake in the area governed by road sign 3.20 “No overtaking,” collided in succession with two cars, an Opel and a Peugeot.
As a result of his injuries, the KIA driver, a 42‑year‑old man, died at the scene before the arrival of the ambulance crew.
The passengers of the car, men aged 42 and 43, were taken to medical facilities in Yekaterinburg with various injuries.
Police officers have established that the deceased had 17 years of driving experience and had been subject to administrative penalties eight times. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. The driver’s condition at the time of the crash will be determined by the results of a chemical‑toxicological examination.
