A woman went into labor on a Ural Airlines plane.
On board a Ural Airlines flight from Yekaterinburg to Samarkand, a 19-year-old passenger fell ill — she began having labor pains. The plane departed the previous night at 23:30, and shortly after reaching altitude the woman approached the flight attendants, complaining of severe abdominal pain, E1.RU was told by Ural Airlines.
Fortunately, a neurologist and a paramedic were among the passengers. They examined the pregnant woman and confirmed that labor had begun. The crew quickly prepared a comfortable spot for the woman in the cabin by folding down several seats and turning them into an improvised "ward" at an altitude of 10,000 meters. Until the end of the flight the flight attendants stayed nearby, providing assistance and moral support, while the medical staff monitored the woman's condition.
One passenger said that while the flight attendants were helping the expectant mother, she was holding her ten-month-old daughter in her arms.
The birth did not take place on board — immediately after landing the woman was handed over to medical personnel, who took her to a maternity hospital. According to the passenger, the woman said she was flying to Tajikistan to give birth in her homeland.
