In Yekaterinburg, spending on the transport reform will increase fivefold.
Yekaterinburg will spend five times more than planned on the transport reform. The total amount of funding will be 47.9 billion rubles, although originally only 8.6 billion was planned.
The funds are needed to renew the bus, tram and trolleybus fleets, reconstruct stops, maintain parking facilities, and replace traffic lights and road signs. The document was published on the administration’s website.
The document says the funds will be allocated from the federal, regional and city budgets. Thus, Yekaterinburg will allocate 38.4 billion rubles to develop the program. The city must purchase 50 trolleybuses each year from 2023 to 2026, 30 buses from 2023 to 2024, and 17 trams from 2024 to 2025. Cars that impede street cleaning or the holding of mass events should be towed, and the municipality should be provided with new paid parking spaces, writes Ura.Ru.
Earlier, Yekaterinburg raised public transport fares to a record high.
