In Nizhny Tagil, the new building of Police Department No. 20 at 48 Proselochnaya Street was officially opened.

The ceremony was attended by the head of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Sverdlovsk Oblast, Police Lieutenant General Alexander Meshkov, his deputy, Police Major General Petr Krivegin, the head of the Tagil OVD garrison, Colonel Ibragim Abdulkadyrov, the city head Vladislav Pinaev, representatives of the Public Council, police personnel and honored guests.

For more than 30 years the police department of the Galyano‑Gorbunov district was located on the ground floor of a building on Druzhinin Street, which hindered effective work and caused inconveniences for staff and citizens.

“We worked in difficult conditions, in small offices with 5–6 employees, and some worked in shifts due to the lack of properly equipped workstations,” said Colonel Abdulkadyrov.

The issue of renovating the two‑story building on Proselochnaya Street was repeatedly discussed with deputies and the administration. With the support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Sverdlovsk Oblast, work began. The new building is equipped with a duty unit, offices for investigators, precinct officers, juvenile affairs and administrative practice, a reception room for citizens, storage for physical evidence and special equipment. A comfortable waiting area and an accessible environment have been created.

About 60 department employees are already working in the new conditions. The opening of the department has improved the quality of police work, increased public safety and created comfortable conditions for service.

“General Meshkov not only cut the symbolic red ribbon, but also inspected the readiness of the service premises for work, asked for the personnel’s opinion, issued a number of instructions on material and technical support and the improvement of the adjacent territory, and sincerely thanked the city head and the contractor-builders for their good work, presenting them with letters of appreciation. In addition, Alexander Meshkov urged the department’s staff to make every effort so that district residents would feel more protected from criminal acts,” noted the press secretary of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Sverdlovsk Oblast, Valery Gorelykh.
