A transportation collapse occurred in Yekaterinburg after tram service was suspended.
A transport collapse has formed in the ZhBI district of Yekaterinburg after tram services stopped. Repair work on the tracks will continue here until October 27. Because of this, large queues of passengers are forming at stops, but buses cannot accommodate everyone who wants to ride. Many city residents are forced to walk.
"ZhBI is a neighborhood forgotten by the transport reform. Trams were canceled due to the repair, and there is no alternative. On Syromolotova only one bus No. 61 came in 20 minutes — and it was overcrowded. People, having lost hope, are walking on foot. There are about 200 people at the '2nd Komsomolskaya' stop right now," an E1.RU reader said.
Another city resident shared a video from the 'Kamennye Palatki' stop, where a large crowd had also gathered in the morning.
"Here it is — all of Yekaterinburg's public transport: no stops, no buses," she captioned the clip.
At the same time one of the townspeople noted that no workers could be seen at the track repair site.
"I drove through ZhBI 15 minutes ago — no people, no equipment. Silence," he complained.
The Yekaterinburg administration said that to reduce the load they increased the number of buses: eight vehicles were added to route No. 61, and another four to No. 49.
