In Sverdlovsk Oblast, people said goodbye to a man who was killed after being mistaken for a bear.
In Asbest, they bid farewell to Alexander Moiseenko, who died while gathering cedar cones in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug. The tragedy occurred on October 14.
According to the 86.RU portal, citing the Investigative Committee for the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, a 33-year-old resident of Yugra went into the forest with his laika to collect cedar cones. He had a loaded hunting rifle with him.
Around five in the evening, as it was beginning to get dark, the dog suddenly barked. The man decided there was a bear nearby and fired in the presumed direction. However, another cone collector — a 35-year-old resident of Sverdlovsk Oblast — was in the line of fire, about 120 meters from him.
"From a gunshot wound to the chest the victim died at the scene," the Investigative Committee said.
A criminal case has been opened in connection with the incident on a charge of causing death by negligence.
The deceased turned out to be a native of Asbest, Alexander Moiseenko. His relatives confirmed this information.
