The Governor of Sverdlovsk Oblast, Denis Pasler, commented on the future of Mayor Orlov.
Yekaterinburg Mayor Alexey Orlov will keep his post at least until February 2026, when his term of office expires. After that the further fate of the city head will be discussed, Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Denis Pasler said following a meeting of the regional government.
“Alexey Valeryevich Orlov is currently working fully in accordance with the law; he is a lawfully elected head. I think we still have time to discuss this matter,” Pasler said.
The governor stressed that the residents of Yekaterinburg should assess the mayor’s work.
“It is most appropriate to rely on the opinion of the townspeople, to ask them how they evaluate the head’s work,” he added, the E1.Ru portal reports.
It should be recalled that Yekaterinburg plans to change the procedure for appointing mayors. The main change is that only the governor will now be able to propose candidates, rather than the selection committees as was previously the case.
