Dozens of artillery shells were found at a construction site in Akademichesky.
At a construction site in Akademichesky workers found a stockpile of artillery shells. This was told to EAN by Sergey Shkodskikh, a representative of the construction company.
During earthworks the excavator operator removed the top layer of turf, it rained, and the ground in the middle of the site began to collapse, and four shells appeared on the surface.
"The police left; they did not carry out demining. Later we discovered a trench about 3 by 10 meters in which there were shells. I don't know exactly how many—several dozen, but the depth of the trench is unknown. Once upon a time there was a tank training ground here; apparently the shells left from firing were buried. These are 155-mm howitzer shells; there seem to be some of a larger caliber as well. The shells are very rusty; some have fuzes screwed onto them," Sergey noted.
He has already contacted various authorities to have the shells removed and neutralized—the police, the prosecutor's office, the governor and the military enlistment office.
"The shells have been lying there for the third month already. A representative of the military enlistment office came and said, 'This is our property.' I said, 'Then take them,' but no one does anything. Fortunately there are no residential buildings nearby. In general, it's all unsafe," Sergey concluded.
In addition, there is a park next to the ammunition depot where families walk.
Earlier an explosive shell was found in a forest near Yekaterinburg.
