New trams were spotted on another route in Yekaterinburg.
The new three-section tram “Kastor” has entered service for the first time on route No. 6 (Mashinostroiteley — Khalturina — city centre — TsPKiO).
According to a source at E1.RU in the transport industry, by the beginning of November the city had already received 11 of the 15 trams provided for under the municipal contract. As a result, Gortrans decided to test the new trams on other routes as well. Until now, the Kastors had operated exclusively on route No. 18 (Shartash — city centre — Yugo-Zapad).
In the near future, trams of this model may also be deployed on route No. 13, which connects Sortirovka with the ZhBI district via the city centre. In addition, the possibility of launching Kastors on line No. 15 (Vtorchermet — 40 Let VLKSM) and No. 1 (Akademika Parina — Vtorchermet) is being considered.
“We choose routes with the highest passenger flow so that the trams operate where they are needed most,” a source told the media.
