A woman from Yekaterinburg complained about migrants cooking in an apartment they rent in her building.

      A resident of Yekaterinburg complained about an unusual situation she and her neighbors found themselves in after people from neighboring countries moved into the building. People don’t know how to live with the smells of food seeping in from apartments rented to the newcomers.

      As a female subscriber, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the Telegram public “Zloy Yekaterinburg,” some apartments in their multi-unit building are rented by people of other cultures.

      “Everything would be fine, they don’t make noise, to be honest, they behave decently, at least those who live near us. But! How do they cook? What are those aromas throughout the stairwell, throughout the whole floor. It’s impossible to leave the apartment in the morning,” the user shared. “Why is their cooking so smelly, excuse the expression? What can be done about this?”

      According to the Yekaterinburg resident, she tried to talk to the “cooks,” but they pretend not to understand Russian. Seeking advice on how to proceed, she turned to other residents.

      In the comments, users advised contacting the managing company to have it check the ventilation. After that one can turn to Rospotrebnadzor or the State Housing Inspectorate. “The question of why it smells is either the vents don’t work, or it’s an illegal reconfiguration,” explained one of the page’s readers.

      Another user shared his view on why the smells are so strong and unfamiliar to the nose. According to him, it’s the onion for pilaf, which the newcomers fry not in vegetable oil but in sheep tail fat (kurdjuk). “You can’t air that out,” confirmed the author of the comment.

      Another commenter said that Indians, whose food is also very fragrant, fry lightly salted herring in sesame oil.
