Denis Allayarov's uncle, a police officer, admitted that the journalist had paid him for briefings.
At the Verkh-Isetsky Court in Yekaterinburg today, in the case of URA.RU editor Denis Allayarov, his uncle, former head of the Criminal Investigation Department of Precinct No. 10, Andrey Karpov, was questioned. The former police officer confirmed that his nephew paid him for information.
Andrey Karpov, who is a defendant in a criminal case on taking bribes and exceeding his authority, is appearing in his nephew’s case as a witness.
During today’s hearing in Allayarov’s case, Karpov confirmed that for a year, up until his retirement, he passed an operational summary to his nephew. Using information closed to others, the nephew, according to his uncle (as contained in the case files), wanted to advance his career, writes KP-Yekaterinburg.
According to investigators, for the operational summaries the journalist gave Karpov 120,000 rubles. The money was transferred to the bank cards of Karpov’s mother (Denis’s grandmother) and Karpov’s wife, and was handed over in cash once. The amount of 120,000 rubles was set by Denis himself, Karpov explained to the court.
“The summary contained all the incidents in the city of Yekaterinburg. I received it from the duty officers. In some places full details were written down. This is a restricted-use document, only for police officers. If I hadn’t passed it on, it wouldn’t have reached them,” KP-Yekaterinburg cites the testimony of the person questioned.
Recall that at the previous hearing two officers of Precinct No. 10 testified in court. They confirmed that Karpov had asked to have the summaries sent to his email.
