In Perm Krai a woman will stand trial who, under the pretext of supporting a non‑existent daughter, deceived and extorted more than 800,000 rubles from an acquaintance. The previously unconvicted 35‑year‑old resident of Perm Krai asked a 47‑year‑old acquaintance for financial help on the pretext that they had a daughter together (and later that the child was ill). In reality the woman had no child; the Perm resident took advantage of the fact that the man is a deep‑sea sailor and was away on long voyages most of the time, the Telegram channel "Politsiya Prikamya" reports. The perpetrator found and downloaded a birth certificate from the Internet. Trusting his beloved completely and not suspecting deception, the man regularly transferred money to her for three years, which she spent on personal needs.
That there was no daughter was revealed during court proceedings. When the accused said she wanted to end the relationship, the man went to court to establish paternity. After that the victim filed a police report. The criminal case, opened under Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud"), was investigated by the investigative department of the Krasnokamsk branch of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. The material damage amounted to 835,000 rubles. At present the criminal case materials have been sent to court for consideration on the merits.
