      Officers of the Zarechny State Traffic Inspectorate are establishing the circumstances of a road traffic accident in which an elderly woman was injured.

      The accident occurred on Friday, November 21 at 11:40 a.m. at the 30th kilometer and 722 meters of the Yekaterinburg–Tyumen highway, within the territory of Beloyarsky District.

      According to preliminary data, a 76‑year‑old Hyundai driver, traveling from Yekaterinburg toward the settlement of Verkhneye Dubrovo, failed to maintain constant control of the vehicle and struck a lighting pole.

      A 76‑year‑old passenger was taken to City Clinical Hospital No. 36 with injuries. At the time of the accident both the driver and the injured passenger were wearing seat belts.

      State Traffic Inspectorate officers established that the 76‑year‑old man has 52 years of driving experience, has been held administratively liable for traffic violations 48 times, and all fines have been paid. No intoxication was detected.

      The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds that road safety depends on constant concentration. "Even many years of driving experience do not eliminate the need to strictly comply with traffic rules and to refrain from actions that distract from driving," the agency commented on the causes of the accident.
