A four-year-old child was injured in a collision between two cars in Yekaterinburg.

      A small child was injured in a road accident that occurred on Saturday morning in the cottage settlement "Zelenoborsky-1" (Chkalovsky District).

      The crash occurred near house No. 1 at about 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, between a Volkswagen Polo and a KIA Spectra, the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Yekaterinburg reported.

      According to preliminary information, the Volkswagen driver, traveling along Luchistaya Street from the direction of the EKAD, chose an unsafe speed, as a result of which he lost control of the vehicle and moved into the oncoming lane, where he collided with the KIA.

      A four-year-old girl who was sitting in the KIA Spectra was injured in the impact. An ambulance took the child to Children's Hospital No. 9. The underage passenger had been transported without violating traffic rules — on the right rear passenger seat, in a child restraint, which helped to avoid serious injuries.

      The Volkswagen Polo was being driven by a 49-year-old resident of Yekaterinburg. The man has 27 years of driving experience and has been held administratively liable 10 times. He told the traffic inspectors that the vehicle skidded on the road unexpectedly and he ended up in the oncoming lane.

      Administrative proceedings have been initiated against the driver under Article 12.24 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (Violation of traffic rules or rules for the operation of a vehicle that caused minor or moderate harm to health).

      The KIA Spectra was driven by a 36-year-old resident of Yekaterinburg with 17 years of driving experience; he has been held administratively liable 19 times. A ruling was issued against the man under Part 2 of Article 12.37 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (failure to comply with the requirements for compulsory civil liability insurance of vehicle owners).

      Both drivers underwent sobriety tests; the result — sober. An investigation into the accident is underway.

      Recall that a few days earlier, on November 17, a similar crash occurred on Shcherbakova Street, in which a 5-year-old boy died. The child was in the car that was hit by the driver who had moved into the oncoming lane. The boy had been transported in gross violation of the rules.
