The woman bought a bottle of accelerant and at midnight poured it on the rear wheel of the Kia Sportage. She committed the crime at the instruction of telephone criminals in the hope that they would return the money they had previously extorted from her.

      The owner of the vehicle estimated the damage at 1.1 million rubles. A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Intentional destruction or damage of another's property"). The arsonist has been placed under an undertaking not to leave. She faces up to five years in prison.
