In Yekaterinburg, a 20-year-old employee of a mobile phone shop, at the behest of telephone scammers, set fire to her neighbor’s SUV. A criminal case has been opened, reports "KP‑Yekaterinburg."
As "KP‑Yekaterinburg" has learned, the arson was committed on the night of November 21 in Elmash, in the courtyard of a building at the corner of Danilovskaya Street and Zamyatin Lane.
The owner of the car heard the alarm and saw from his window that his Kia Sportage was on fire. From the remains of an accelerant at the scene, the firefighters who arrived to extinguish the blaze quickly understood that the fire had been set deliberately.
As criminal investigators established, the car was set ablaze by a 20-year-old employee of a mobile phone shop who lives in the neighboring building. The woman bought a bottle of accelerant and at midnight poured it on the rear wheel of the Kia Sportage. She committed the crime at the instruction of telephone criminals in the hope that they would return the money they had previously extorted from her.
The owner of the vehicle estimated the damage at 1.1 million rubles. A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Intentional destruction or damage of another's property"). The arsonist has been placed under an undertaking not to leave. She faces up to five years in prison.
