The beautification works on the square near the Ural State University of Economics (UrGEU) are being carried out by the beauty retailer "Golden Apple". This was reported by KP-Yekaterinburg.
The square is at the intersection of 8 Marta and Kuybysheva streets in Yekaterinburg. Architectural firms and designers, including those from Golden Apple itself, worked on the project, whose budget amounts to more than 150 million rubles.
Work began in May. At present, the pedestrian area in front of the UrGEU building has already been renovated, a car park has been laid out, green planting areas expanded, and multi-level planters with live plants installed. An automatic irrigation system has been provided for all the plants.
The planters make it possible to zone the space, separating the roadway from the pedestrian area. UrGEU’s parking is separated by a living hedge of glossy cotoneaster.
The project authors decided to replace the benches with a single long bench, about 70 meters long. It is intended to spare people the feeling of having to sit down next to a stranger.
Coniferous and deciduous trees are planned to be planted along Kuybysheva Street. All work is planned to be completed by October next year, writes KP-Yekaterinburg.
Plans to reconstruct the area in front of UrGEU became known back in 2020. Renders of the project appeared at that time as well.
