Yekaterinburg deputies concluded that "Summer on the Square" is too expensive.
Forty-eight million rubles were spent on the public space "Summer on the Square," which was equipped for the first time this year in Yekaterinburg on 1905 Square. The figure was announced at a city duma meeting while considering a budget adjustment, reports Kommersant-Ural.
Initially "Summer at the Factory" envisaged spending 42 million rubles, but deputies approved an additional 6 million rubles. Yulia Medvedeva, director of the finance department of the Yekaterinburg administration, explained that an extra payment was required under the contract already signed.
Timofey Zhukov, a deputy from United Russia, pointed out that maintaining the ice rink in winter is cheaper than setting up the space in summer, writes Kommersant-Ural.
"We would like to understand what we are buying. In the very center of the city we wanted to do something good, to reform. But it turned out unclear what, for that money, we have acquired for the city in the 'Summer on the Square' format," Zhukov said.
The deputies agreed that the program's content for 2026 should be approached more carefully.
