A flight from Yekaterinburg to a popular resort was canceled due to problems with the aircraft.
A RedWings flight to Phuket (Thailand) was canceled in Yekaterinburg. This was reported by EAN, citing Koltsovo’s online departures board.
The plane was scheduled to depart on December 24 at 02:30. Initially it was rescheduled because the airline replaced the aircraft. According to Turdom, the carrier planned to use domestic Tu aircraft instead of the Boeing 777-200. Tourists were to be sent on a Tu-214 (WZ-3245) with a stop in Turkmenabat.
The media speculate that the flight cancellation is connected to an incident on December 18 involving a Red Wings Boeing 777-200 operating a flight from Novosibirsk to Sri Lanka. The pilot had to turn the plane around and return to Tolmachevo due to one of the cockpit sensors being triggered. As a result, Novosibirsk passengers were flown to Sri Lanka only on Sunday. There were also disruptions to the schedule of flights to Thailand.
Earlier we reported that an international Ural Airlines flight was heavily delayed in Moscow.
