"The malfunction was identified, the boiler was started, and the boiler plant is now operating normally," Sizikov wrote on Friday.
According to the regional prosecutor’s office, the boiler shut down on the evening of Wednesday, December 24 due to an automation failure.
"At present, 2 of the 3 boilers are functioning; a specialized organization is carrying out restoration work," the supervisory authority said.
As a result, the temperature of the heating medium in the heat supply system fell in 338 residential buildings, where more than 16,800 residents live. The situation also affected two schools, five kindergartens and a department of the city hospital.
A state of heightened readiness was declared in the city. According to the supervisory authority, the boiler plant is operated by LLC "Vertical."
