Sverdlovsk police officers rescued a truck driver who was misled by his GPS.
In the Sverdlovsk region, traffic police officers helped the driver of a heavy goods vehicle who found himself in a difficult situation due to severe frost.
A report of the incident was received by the duty unit of the Irbit Municipal Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia: at the 91st kilometer of the Kamyshlov—Irbit—Turinsk—Tavda road a truck completely blocked the highway. A traffic police crew immediately went to the scene.
It turned out that the driver was traveling from Yekaterinburg to Alapaevsk and, trusting his navigator, decided to make a U‑turn. At that moment, with temperatures below -30 degrees Celsius, the brake hose between the tractor and the semi‑trailer burst. The vehicle became immobilized and obstructed other road users.
The officers first ensured safety and managed traffic on that section of road, and then, with the help of another truck, carefully moved the disabled articulated truck to the shoulder. The road was quickly cleared.
The police did not leave the driver in trouble and helped him get to Irbit to buy the necessary spare parts. After the repair, the man thanked inspectors Mikhail Tukhvar and Vadim Savenko for their help and responsiveness and continued on his way.
