The court found Yekaterinburg deputy Chachin not guilty of cartel collusion.

A court in Yekaterinburg acquitted the head of a construction company who had been accused of cartel collusion. The case concerns entrepreneur Vitaly Chachin. His case was heard by the Verkh-Isetsky District Court.

The investigation believed that in 2018 Chachin, as the de facto head of a large company, agreed with competitors to maintain prices in electronic tenders. According to the prosecution, the companies coordinated their bids in advance to eliminate competition and inflate the cost of government contracts, the press service of the courts of the Sverdlovsk Region reported.

It was alleged that thanks to this scheme Chachin’s firm won six government tenders totaling nearly 286 million rubles. These included repair of a bridge in the Chelyabinsk Region, gasification of settlements and construction of a boiler house.

Chachin himself denied the charges. The court, having examined all the evidence, concluded that his actions did not constitute a crime. As a result the entrepreneur was fully acquitted and granted the right to rehabilitation due to unlawful criminal prosecution.
