A new enclosure will be built at the Yekaterinburg Zoo.
By 2027, the Yekaterinburg Zoo will build a new enclosure for the endangered Amur tigers. It will be located on the site where amusement rides once stood.
“We removed the rides. We’ll organize some recreational areas for relaxation, but our priority is the animals; we are using the last remaining square meters for them. The enclosure will comply with the new standards; it will include indoor facilities for the tigers and outdoor enclosures,” the institution’s director, Svetlana Prilepina, told the Ura.Ru agency.
A young pair of Amur tigers — Jagar and Juna — will move into the enclosure. Half of the funds needed for this will be allocated from Yekaterinburg’s budget.
Earlier we reported that the zoo’s Snegurochka was chosen at the Yekaterinburg Zoo.
