Security forces detained a young man who set fire to the former military recruitment office in Yekaterinburg.
Employees of the Sverdlovsk branch of the FSB detained on New Year's Eve a young man who on December 31 set fire to a former military recruitment point. The young man had previously faced criminal charges for possession of narcotics. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Antiterror."
"The identity of the offender who, in front of eyewitnesses, set fire to the pavilion on Vostochnaya was established by officers of the regional FSB directorate. He was detained on New Year's Eve," the Telegram channel writes.
The young man set fire to the pavilion at the intersection of Vostochnaya and Kuibysheva, where a military enlistment point had previously been located. He tried to hide his face with a bandana. The area of the blaze was 18 square meters; the fire was extinguished in 15 minutes.
Earlier reports said that a young man, his face covered by a bandana, approached the pavilion and through a small opening splashed liquid from an opaque bottle inside, then set the structure on fire. The Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Sverdlovsk Region reported that the fire alert was received by the duty desk on the night of December 31.
