Yekaterinburg winter swimmers held a New Year's swim in an ice hole on Lake Shuvakish. Alexander Sazhin, a member of the "White Bear" winter-swimming club, told the Ura.Ru agency that it is a long-standing tradition.
"There were about 40 of us, including women and children. We swam and washed away all the bad things so we could welcome 2026 with good thoughts. We congratulated each other and wished everyone good health," Sazhin said.
On the day of the swim the air temperature was −18°C and the water 0°C. Yekaterinburg's winter-swimming enthusiasts promised to swim regularly in the ice hole and to hold sporting competitions there.
