A 19-year-old "bomber" has been arrested in connection with an attempted terrorist attack in the Urals.
The Central District Court of Chelyabinsk remanded a 19-year-old resident of the Chelyabinsk Region in custody for two months on charges of illegal possession of explosives, Interfax reports, citing law enforcement agencies.
The 19-year-old South Ural resident was detained the day before by officers of the regional directorate of the Russian FSB.
"As a result of operational-search activities and investigative actions at the place of residence of the said person, components for the manufacture of an improvised explosive device were seized," a source in the department told the news agency.
The detainee's actions have been qualified under Part 3 of Article 30 and Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempt to commit a terrorist act); investigative actions are ongoing.
