A Ural Airlines pilot commented on the demand to pay 119 million for landing a plane in a field.
The pilot of Ural Airlines, Sergey Belov, who landed a plane with 167 passengers in a field, was asked to admit his mistake. He told Ura.Ru this, commenting on reports that a lawsuit for 119 million rubles had been filed against him.
"They told me that I have the money to pay for everything. Cynical as it may be, even my car has been seized. They offer me to admit guilt, then I'll get off lightly. A complaint was written on behalf of a passenger and they made him sign it. They're trying to do everything to corner the crew," Belov said.
Recall that on September 12, 2023, an Airbus A320 of Ural Airlines, operating flight Sochi — Omsk, due to a hydraulic system failure and lack of fuel, landed in a field in the Novosibirsk region. The decision to land in the field was made by the aircraft commander Belov; subsequently, the Eastern Interregional Directorate of the Investigative Committee for Transport said that a technical malfunction of the aircraft did not prevent a landing in Omsk. Belov has been served with a 119-million-ruble claim to compensate for damages. Meanwhile, Ural Airlines has already received an insurance payout of about 1.3 billion rubles.
