In Yekaterinburg, a building with the inscription "Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going?" will be demolished.
In Yekaterinburg permission was granted to demolish a building on whose roof the well-known art object bearing the inscription "Who are we, where are we going?" is located. This follows from materials of the historical and cultural assessment prepared by the Department for the State Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites of the Sverdlovsk Region. Reports "KP-Ekaterinburg."
The case concerns four buildings of the former Ural Instrument-Making Plant at 17 Gorky Street. The iconic phrase by street artist Tima Radi appeared there in 2017.
Experts concluded that the demolition of the buildings does not pose a threat to nearby architectural monuments. Among them are the house of Dmitry Mamin-Sibiryak, which now houses a museum, the Tarasov merchants' estate, and the building of the former post office where the Decembrists stopped on their way from Siberia.
The dismantling of the structures will be carried out on a "top-down" principle with staged removal of horizontal and vertical elements. At present, the assessment's conclusion has been put up for public discussion.
