Yekaterinburg residents were warned about the danger of the sun.
The State Traffic Inspectorate of the Sverdlovsk Region warns: bright sunlight on the road can be just as dangerous as bad weather. In spring, the daylight hours become longer, and the sun often shines directly into drivers' eyes—especially in the morning and evening.
Glare can impair vision and slow reaction time for several seconds. During this time, a driver risks not noticing a pedestrian, a traffic light signal, or changes in the situation on the road. This most often occurs in open areas and on roads heading east in the morning and west in the evening.
To reduce the risk, drivers are advised to:
wear polarized sunglasses;
keep the windshield clean;
use a sun visor;
maintain distance and reduce speed;
be especially attentive to pedestrians.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds: safe driving depends not only on following the rules but also on the ability to take into account weather and natural conditions. Spring sunshine can be just as dangerous as fog or ice.
