A two-year-old boy on a scooter was hit by a car in Yekaterinburg.
A car ran over a two-year-old child the day before in Yekaterinburg, reported the city’s State Traffic Inspectorate.
The accident occurred on Monday, March 23, around 5:15 PM at 37 Eskadronnaya Street, the department's propaganda division said.
According to preliminary data, a 53-year-old driver of a Nissan Almera, while driving in a courtyard area, did not notice the child who was riding a scooter in the opposite direction when making a left turn. The driver has 15 years of driving experience.
At the time of the incident, the child was out for a walk accompanied by his mother. She explained that her son quickly started to ride away on the scooter and she could not catch up with him.
With various injuries, the two-year-old boy was taken to DGBK No. 9. All circumstances of the incident are being established.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds drivers of the need for increased caution when driving in residential areas and courtyard territories. Children can appear on the road unexpectedly, and their behavior is often unpredictable. A minimum speed should be chosen to ensure timely stopping. Parents need to constantly monitor their children's play and explain the rules of safe behavior near the roadway.
