In the Sverdlovsk region, the shortage of police officers has increased again.
In the Sverdlovsk police, the shortage of personnel has increased to 5,500 people. Compared to 2024, the number of unfilled positions has grown, said the head of the regional department, Alexander Meshkov, speaking before the deputies of the legislative assembly.
— Unfortunately, the shortage of personnel has increased, and this figure is approaching 5,500. A year earlier, it was 4,700. The problem of attrition has primarily affected the units working with the population, Meshkov was quoted by the agency Ura.Ru.
The problem persists in Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Tagil, Kamensk-Uralsky, and Pervouralsk. At the same time, today, 41 regions are operating under conditions of staff shortages. According to Meshkov, law enforcement is attracting volunteers for informational and preventive work and for search operations, only alongside police for the security of mass events. They cannot be sent alone because the volunteers are not official representatives. Earlier, we reported on the increased shortage of police personnel in Yekaterinburg.
