Two high school students from Yekaterinburg became winners of the large-scale Olympiad in computer science "Yandex Education Cup," reports the press service of Yandex.
A total of 200,000 high school students from all over Russia participated in the Olympiad. 5,600 students advanced to the second round.
The finalists included 74 schoolchildren from 39 regions of the country. The final took place at the Moscow office of the IT company Yandex from March 21 to 22.
First, the finalists competed in the individual stage: solving tasks in programming, computer science, logical thinking, and data processing.
Then they participated in a team hackathon on AI robotics. The finished projects were tested in a field: the jury evaluated how successfully the delivery robot could recognize road situations and navigate the route.
Tenth grader David Abduhakimov (School No. 215) and eleventh grader Stepan Kadnikov (School No. 200) from Yekaterinburg were among the leaders of the team stage, demonstrating excellent knowledge in AI robotics. All prize winners received certificates, while the winners received Yandex Station Mini and other gifts from Yandex.
The tasks for the final stage of the Olympiad were developed by the Yandex Lyceum team—a Yandex educational project for schoolchildren that fosters children's interest in technology and helps them master programming and modern AI robotics.
