March 24, 2026 In Yekaterinburg, a local resident has been convicted of killing his neighbor over loud music and refusal to sell his property, the Sverdlovsk region prosecutor's office reported on Tuesday.
Local resident Igor Naimushin, born in 1989, appeared before the court. The state prosecutor presented evidence to the court that on December 28, 2024, due to personal animosity, Naimushin had the intent to kill his neighbor in their communal apartment because of the loud music and the neighbor's refusal to sell or exchange the room for other housing. While in the deceased's room, the accused struck the neighbor at least 25 times on the head with a glass alcohol bottle and other objects. The victim died on the spot from the resulting traumatic brain injury.
Today, March 24, the Ordzhonikidze District Court of Yekaterinburg, based on the evidence presented by the state prosecutor and considering the latter's position, sentenced the accused under part 1 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder) to 9.5 years in a strict regime correctional colony.
In addition, the court awarded the victim's side compensation for moral damage in the amount of 1.5 million rubles and material damage of 75,500 rubles. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force. Naimushin did not admit his guilt. According to him, witnesses falsely accused him because they were subjected to psychological pressure during the investigation of the criminal case. "Meanwhile, the state prosecutor presented undeniable evidence of his involvement in the committed crime," the prosecutor's office stated.
