March 29, 2026 Koltsovo customs officers did not allow the export of a cultural value from Russia - a unique brass samovar made over a century ago, the press service of the Ural Customs Administration reported.

During a selective customs control in the "green" corridor (designated for passengers who do not have goods subject to mandatory declaration - note from Uralweb.ru), inspectors stopped a man flying to Baku. Among the passenger's personal belongings, an antique brass samovar was discovered. Experts determined that the item is over 100 years old and is a cultural value.

The samovar was produced at the factories of the merchant brothers Shemarin, "suppliers to the Court of His Imperial Majesty the Shah of Persia."

The entire samovar is marked with stamps, and some of them can still be read: "franco-Russian exhibition of 1899 St. Petersburg," "for labor and success," "Nicholas II, Emperor, Autocrat of All Russia."

The citizen explained that this is a family relic that had been gathering dust in his uncle's garage in Chelyabinsk. The relative gifted the samovar to his nephew, and he is taking it back home to drink tea.

The issue of initiating administrative cases under articles 16.2 and 16.3 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation (non-declaration of goods and non-compliance with established restrictions) is being resolved.
