In the Sverdlovsk region, scammers tested a new scheme on the families of participants in the Special Military Operation.
In the Sverdlovsk region, scammers are contacting the wives, mothers, and sisters of participants in the special military operation (SMO). They are searching for potential victims in chats and posing as those who supposedly know what is happening with their relative.
— Informants report about a fictitious death or disappearance. Everything is aimed at driving the relatives to despair and forcing them to record a video message with a pre-written text attacking the command of our army and the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, noted Maxim Ivanov, a State Duma deputy from the Sverdlovsk region, on his Telegram channel.
According to him, upon receiving such a message, one should not share personal information (full name, address, phone number), information about the serviceman (place of service, call sign, unit, position), any documents and photographs, and also should not record video and audio at anyone's request if you do not know the person personally. Earlier, we reported how a young man tried to extort 5 million rubles from the mother of a deceased Ural resident in the SMO.
