Customs inspectors at Koltsovo Airport (passenger terminal) detained a foreign passenger arriving on a flight from Harbin and traveling through the "green" corridor of the customs control zone, the press service of the Ural Customs Administration reported on Friday.
The passenger was carrying medical devices with components, acupuncture goods, and traditional Chinese medicine products in three suitcases, with a total weight of over 30 kilograms.
The passenger explained that he was bringing the goods for use in one of the Tyumen clinics that provide traditional Chinese medicine services.
"The range, quantity of goods, and the man's own explanations indicate that all of this is not for personal use and must be declared," explained Sergey Borovik, head of the Koltsovo Airport (passenger terminal) customs post.
Since this was not done, an administrative offense case was initiated against the foreign citizen (failure to declare goods). After assessment, he faces a fine ranging from half to double the value of the cargo.
