The Sverdlovsk police advised Ural residents to check their foreign passports.
The press secretary of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Sverdlovsk region, Valery Gorelykh, stated that before the summer holidays, residents of Sverdlovsk should check the validity of their passports and contact the authorities in advance to replace the document.
— To avoid a rush, stress, and other urgent actions, it is necessary to calmly prepare the required documents and submit an application. I would like to note that the demand for this service is significant this year, — noted Colonel Gorelykh.
According to him, if more than 189,000 passports were issued in the region in 2025, then from January to March 2026, 50,800 documents were issued, which is 41.1% more than in the same period last year. The reason for the increase in applications is that starting January 2026, children under 14 years old can only leave the Russian Federation with a passport issued in the name of the minor. Birth certificates and the passport of the legal representative will no longer be accepted for a child's departure.
