The culprit of the accident that resulted in the death of a young mother on Kosmonavtov Avenue in Yekaterinburg has been detained.
The driver who caused the accident in Yekaterinburg, resulting in the death of one person (a woman) and severe injuries to another (a child), has been detained.
The accident occurred on Saturday, April 11, around 18:30 on Kosmonavtov Avenue, 116 in Yekaterinburg.
According to preliminary data, the driver of a Lexus, traveling along Kosmonavtov Avenue towards Verkhnyaya Pyshma, did not maintain a safe speed and the necessary distance from the vehicle ahead, leading to a collision with a Toyota driven by a 55-year-old resident of Pervouralsk.
After the impact, the Lexus was thrown into the oncoming lane, where a BMW driven by a 30-year-old resident of the village of Baltym was traveling at that time. Both vehicles caught fire upon impact. Debris from the collision damaged a passing Lada.
The fire was promptly extinguished by the arriving firefighters.
The female driver of the BMW and her one-and-a-half-year-old son, who was in a child seat in the back behind the driver and was buckled in, were hospitalized in serious condition. Two other individuals, the Lexus driver and the Lada driver, were released home after a medical examination.
In the hospital, the 24-year-old man behind the wheel of the Lexus refused to undergo a medical examination for intoxication. He was unable to explain his actions, stating that he was driving home from visiting friends.
It has been established that he is a resident of Yekaterinburg, with 7 years of driving experience. He has previously been held administratively responsible 18 times for traffic violations.
The female driver of the BMW was taken to GKB No. 36, where she died from her injuries. The child is in a coma. He sustained serious injuries due to severe deformation of the body, as the boy was directly in the impact zone.
Administrative materials have been drawn up against the Lexus driver by traffic inspectors under part 1 of Article 12.26 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation for refusing medical examination, under part 1 of Article 20.25 of the Administrative Offenses Code for non-payment of an administrative fine, as well as under part 1 of Article 12.15 of the Administrative Offenses Code for violating the rules for the placement of a vehicle on the roadway.
The man has been detained and placed in the temporary detention facility of OP No. 15. The vehicle has been moved to a special parking lot. An investigation is underway regarding the accident.
