In Yekaterinburg, a sentence was handed down to the "bison" of Ural business, Gaisin.
The sentence against the former general director of OJSC "Zavod Iset" Malik Gaisin was handed down on Thursday by the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg.
The businessman was accused of three episodes of embezzlement in a particularly large amount using his official position (part 4 of article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), reports the unified press service of the courts of the Sverdlovsk region.
As established by the court, Gaisin, while holding the position of general director of OJSC "Zavod Iset," over several years siphoned off the company's funds through controlled firms under fictitious loan agreements.
The total amount of damage caused exceeded 385 million rubles.
The actions of the accused caused property damage both to OJSC "Zavod Iset" itself and to the Russian Federation represented by the ultimate beneficiary - the State Corporation "Rostec."
The defendant did not admit guilt and insisted on his innocence. However, the evidence presented to the court was sufficient for a guilty verdict.
Malik Gaisin was sentenced to 14 years in a general regime colony with subsequent restriction of freedom for 2 years, as well as a fine of 2 billion rubles.
The sentence has not yet entered into legal force and can be appealed in the appellate procedure within 15 days.
Three years ago, the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg, at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office, transferred to the state the shares (55.32%) of OJSC "Zavod Iset," as well as the shares belonging to the defendant and the companies controlled by him, "Uralbiofarm" (which was a monopoly owner) and the bank "Vyatich," as noted by "Interfax."
In 2019, as reported by RIA "Novy Den," Malik Gaisin intended to register the trademark "Gorijopa."
Earlier, in February 2024, the Khamovnichesky Court of Moscow sentenced three former employees of Ksenia Sobchak's holding "Caution Media" for "blocking negative," which the court qualified as extortion of 11 million rubles from the head of "Rostec," Sergey Chemezov. It was after that story that it became known that Sobchak has an Israeli passport.
