Everything began in March with a phone call, when the scammers pretended to be employees of an organization for replacing meters and convinced the teacher to provide a code from an SMS. Then representatives claiming to be from the State Services and the FSB frightened the man with the existence of a threat to his bank savings. They stated that the money needed to be placed in a "safe account." The teacher then handed over all his money to an unfamiliar young man. When the 22-year-old "courier" received the savings, the scammers stopped contacting him. Only then did the man realize he had been deceived and turned to the police.
The courier turned out to be an employee of the security service of a commercial enterprise. During interrogation, he said that "life circumstances" pushed him to commit the crime. He posted an advertisement online seeking part-time work. A company that needed a courier contacted him. His duties included picking up money and transferring it through a crypto exchange. The young man was promised 0.2% of the transaction. A criminal case is being investigated against him under the article "Fraud on a particularly large scale." Police are checking how many similar stories are associated with the suspect.
