Until now, not everyone knows that used tires do not belong in the landfill. Tires are hazardous waste, so they must be disposed of separately from household garbage. It is not allowed to throw auto tires near the containers by the house, but sometimes motorists neglect this. Often, tire shop owners bring entire trucks of tires to the sites, for which they were paid by motorists for "safe disposal." In such cases, the accumulation of tires must be removed by the site owner: the management organization or local administration.
— Tires are classified as fourth-class hazardous waste; their use in yards for decorating flower beds or as equipment in playgrounds is prohibited because they release harmful and polluting substances into the soil. For the same reason, they cannot be thrown away with regular garbage. Such waste must be disposed of properly. Tires are successfully recycled, turned into car mats, and added to asphalt mixtures for road construction, noted the head of the environmental service of JSC "Special Auto Base," Artem Khachatryan.
The "Special Auto Base" organized the reception of used tires to prevent them from ending up at container sites. Tires can be dropped off from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00 at Posadskaya, 3.
— Last year, motorists and organizations delivered about 20,000 tires to our reception point, and since the beginning of this year, more than 2,500 tires have already been accepted. With the onset of the tire change period, the number of inquiries at the point will continue to grow, added the head of the waste management department of JSC "Special Auto Base," Olesya Plescheva.
Those who violate the rules and throw tires at the container site may be fined: up to 4,000 rubles for individuals and up to 400,000 rubles for enterprises.
Before handing over auto tires, they must be prepared: they should not be contaminated with petroleum products, and they need to be cleaned of stones, soil, metal, and debris. You must have a passport or driver's license with you. The cost of disposing of passenger car tires ranges from 67 to 150 rubles each, depending on the diameter.
