"Is that you in the photo?" A resident of Pervouralsk lost more than 40 thousand rubles after opening a file.
"Look, is that you in the photo?" - this is the message received at the end of winter by a 58-year-old resident of Pervouralsk, who later reported to the police about the theft of his funds. This was reported to Uralweb.ru by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "Pervouralsk."
The police report was received at the duty unit of the Pervouralsk police department from the victim, a 58-year-old local resident, on April 7. According to the applicant, in February he received a message from a friend with the text: "Look, is that you in the photo?" Not suspecting any deception, the man clicked on the link, but the file did not download to his device.
Financial losses were discovered on March 23: funds were withdrawn from the victim's credit card in two transactions totaling 44,500 rubles.
It later turned out that the friend's account had been hacked, and the messages were sent by the perpetrators. On Wednesday, April 22, the investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "Pervouralsk" initiated a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed by a group of persons by prior agreement, as well as causing significant damage to a citizen). Investigative actions are being conducted.
