A case has been opened in Yekaterinburg against a passenger who reported an explosive device in a bag.
A criminal case has been initiated against a 40-year-old resident of Bashkiria by investigators from the Leningrad Region Ministry of Internal Affairs at the Yekaterinburg-Passenger station, reports the Transport Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Ural Federal District.
According to the case materials, the citizen, who works on a rotational basis at one of the industrial enterprises in the Sverdlovsk region and was in a state of alcohol intoxication, arrived at the railway station of the Ural capital to travel to Chelyabinsk.
In the inspection pavilion, he provoked a conflict situation with the employees of the transport security unit, who asked him to present the contents of his bags for inspection. Later, already at the station, the citizen called the unified emergency services number and reported that he had an explosive device with him. At the same time, the man answered the dispatcher’s questions about his name and location.
The intoxicated citizen, whose name matched the personal data of the caller to "112," was promptly detained by a patrol service unit. After the detention, the hooligan's hand luggage and the station area were thoroughly searched with the involvement of a dog handler with a service dog. No explosive devices were found either there or anywhere else.
In a conversation with investigators, the man confessed to his actions. He explained his outburst as a result of alcohol influence. However, it turned out that the suspect had previously had legal problems. Last year, he was convicted for making threats of murder and for repeated driving of a vehicle while intoxicated. As punishment, he was sentenced to 250 hours of compulsory work.
This time, his actions were classified by investigators in accordance with part 2 of article 207 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (knowingly false information, for hooligan motives, about the possible occurrence of socially dangerous consequences at a railway infrastructure facility). The time until the trial will be spent under a travel ban.
In addition, an administrative protocol was drawn up against him under article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation ("Minor Hooliganism") and he was placed in a special room for detained persons until he sobered up.
