The pilot of Ural Airlines captured a unique phenomenon in the sky.
The commander of the aircraft of Ural Airlines, Dmitry Goncharenko, filmed one of the rarest and most mysterious phenomena in the Earth's atmosphere - the so-called noctilucent clouds.
These clouds form at extreme altitudes - approximately 75 to 85 kilometers above the planet's surface, effectively at the very edge of space. They are considered the highest clouds on Earth.
For their appearance, a combination of several factors is necessary: a temperature of about -120 °C, the presence of water vapor, and tiny particles on which it can crystallize. As water vapor rises to such heights, it instantly freezes, settling on particles of cosmic dust and turning into tiny ice crystals.
It is these crystals that reflect sunlight, giving the clouds their characteristic bluish-silver hue.
This phenomenon can only be observed in deep twilight, when it is already dark on the Earth's surface, but sunlight still illuminates the upper layers of the atmosphere. According to pilots, noctilucent clouds look particularly impressive in person and often surpass even the northern lights in spectacle.
